Is it about right to expect to pay around $700 to repair a transmission leak? The estimate includes the replacement seals and labor. Also the labor would take about 1 day to complete. Sound right?

It depends on the seal needing replacement. A front pump seal runs between $700 and $1000. While a rear shaft seal runs around $125 to $175. So if it is a front pump or front seal I think it sounds right.

If it's any seal they have to pull the transmission to replace, $700 ain't exactly a bargain, but it's not out of line. It sounds like they might be replacing all the seals. That would be a fair price for the job.

I don't know it doesn't sound right to me, because a new transmission costs about $1000. I would shop around first, it all depends on where you go, if you are going somewhere like jiffy lube, then you are probably getting ripped off. And plus I just got a transmission seal fixed for $125.

It depends, if they have to take the trans out and crack it open and replace seals..... then yes, it is a big job..... if they are replacing the pan gasket, then no..... ask then specifically what they are replacing.
