Justwondering, LOL not only are they waving but they have that FREAKING OUT LOOK on their face like they are about to die or something...LOL. A bunch of idiots is what they are. When an anal non-smoker starts acting up around me, I ALWAYS laugh at them to really piss them off. The funny thing is they cannot do anything about it.

you are right, if you want to ruin your lungs and heart, and get emphysema and cancer... that's your business.
Just don't make non-smokers sick with your second hand smoke, or foot the bill for your medical treatment.
Thanks for sharing.

As an ex-smoker I can sympathize with you. I can also tell you that while I was a smoker I couldn't really smell the smoke, but now, I can smell it from across the street or if somebody has walked by and is already halfway up the block. I don't particularly like the smell.
I am not concerned about secondhand smoke, which is a joke considering all the automobile exhaust and carbon monoxide everybody sucks in if they live in a city, like I do. But, you know, there are just some people, if they perceive any sort of infringement on their personal space, they will give you "the look." If I'm riding my bike through the park on a single track (I like to ride my mountain bike on trails), and somebody is walking there, I get a dirty look, because somehow they are totally inconvenienced in having to take a sideways step to let me pass. So, yeah, a little more tolerance would be nice.

I was a smoker for 10 years. I quit almost a year ago. I think a lot of non-smokers are whiny because they don't understand how brutal an addiction it is - they think that if we want to, we could stop on a dime. They are disgusted because it is a disgusting habit (I thought so even when I was a smoker). Just be respectful of non-smokers by not blowing in their faces, or smoking around them when they aren't comfortable with it. Then I bet you they wouldn't whine.

It's interesting that you would ask such a question. It seems that you are being the one anal and whiney. But actually the question has to do with how you feel about other people. Do you really feel like the saying treat others the way you want to be treated is applying to you? You are treating others the way you want to be treated with disrespect. If other people do not like to smell cigarette smoke why should you be so haughty and smoke it where people don't like it? You ignore rules but expect everyone else to follow them why is that? No one cares if you want to hurt yourself but people care if you hurt them.

Actually? They aren't. It doesn't even have anything to do with smoking. The reasons, however, are deep, sinister, and take a lot of explaining I'm not going to get into here. Suffice it to say they do like they're told. It's a policy, and, no, nobody does it out of the goodness of their heart or because they care about anybody's health.

There are people in this world who would rather have good health. You obviously have no clue how much crap is in your cigarette and what damage it causes. Besides this, cigarettes STINK and give you bad breath. The stench from them lasts for hours and some people like to smell clean. But, of course you wouldn't understand this.

You are a totally selfish person. Second-hand smoke has been proven to be as harmful as smoking. While you have the right to chose for yourself whether or not to subject your lungs to smoke, you have no right to make that choice for others.
Remember your first whole cigarette? You probably puked. The look of disgust you described corresponds to the non-smoker's stomach turning as they inhale your smoke.
Just in case you want to dismiss my opinion as that of a biased non-smoker, I'm a smoker.

Because sweetheart, although most of us would enjoy the sport of watching you coughing up puss and bloody flem it is a terribly stinky habit that does affect everyone around you. A person can walk into a bar for less than one minute and smell like your stinky cigarette for hours later.
Also, second hand smoke is not healthy and in fact dangerous to others so you do not allow other people with the same rights as you to enjoy breathing clean air sitting in the same room as you.
And finally, if you have children do they deserve to die or develope health problems because of your inconsiderate attitude to the rights of others? I was out in the country years ago and saw a poor man with cancer eating his cheek from inside out. He had a 4 inch square bandage on his cheek and could not go much more in life. You have the right to mess your life up but not anyone elses.

Because it is disgusting for non-smokers to breathe cigarette smoke. You feel as though you are choking. Also, many non-smokers acknowledge what many smokers refuse to--smoking (first and second hand) increases your chances of getting, and dying from, lung cancer by about 50-fold (conservative estimate). Not to mention other lung problems like asthma, emphysema, etc. Perhaps smokers should be courteous of those around them and their wishes to breathe clean air.

If you want to die of cancer, while paying 5 bucks a pop for cigs, thats your business. Perhaps they give you a look because they are sick of breathing in your second hand smoke. Smoking is a filthy habit that defeats the purpose of brushing your teeth, washing your clothes and hair as well as taking a bath. But hey if you want to live, and possibly DIE, smelly thats your business.
