No idea. But yes, an ultrasound could if it got a decent view.
They are not always 100% though

They can find out the sex of the baby by 17 weeks but not as accurate as waiting until about 20 weeks.
Midwife said that if baby's heartbeat is below 140 then usually boy, anything higher usually a girl but this is not always accurate as some other factors also affect the heartbeat (whether baby as asleep).
I think you'll have a girl! Good luck.

Well, I'm 16 weeks. Doc said fetal heartbeat was about 160. I just went to have an utlrasound and found out I'm having a boy! FYI I don't know if heartbeat is a really a good way to tell, but take a guess, you have 50/50 chance of getting it right! lol

Yes an ultrasound can determine the sex of your baby. At 17 weeks you can see the sex but its not always accurate because the genitals are still developing. Usually around 20-22 weeks is when you get a pretty accurate answer.
Its kinda a catch 22 because the later in the pregnancy the more accurate the doctor's answer is but also later in the pregnancy its also alot harder to see because the baby is geting bigger and legs, arms, etc get in the way.

Yes, ultrasound can determine the sex of the baby at 17 weeks. I have asked a few doctors (my regular ob and my specialist) and they both say that the heartbeat can't tell you if its a girl or boy. Unfortunately, it's just a myth.

occurring to Thee wives tale it would be a girl. however it is really hard to tell, this is my 5th pregnancy and the wives tale has worked with every other pregnancy but this one. the baby's heartbeat this time is high so we figured it was a little girl however we are told by ultrasound that it looks like it maybe a little boy. and yes they should be able to tell at 17 weeks however the baby would need cooperate which mine did not do until i was almost 24 weeks lol.

Mine was actually detected (its a boy)at 14.5 weeks and then reconfirmed at 17.5 weeks. I am not sure if you can judge by heartbeat alone. Good luck!
