Would be interested in the answers. You have broadband, and want to connect to the internet! Where did you get this free broadband from? . If you have it why ask to pay for it?

Your internet provider will typically handle all the details, so you jsut pay them.

If you get cable internet, then you call the cable (tv) company, and they will come in with a cable modem and probably a cable splitter.

If you get DSL, then you will get a DSL modem, filters which must be placed on all phones in the house, and additional accessories. The DSL provider, whether you go straight to the phone company for DSL or through someone else, will handle the outside stuff like the wiring in the central office, the middleman CLEC, any other work needing to be done on the phone lines.

If you get wireless internet like ClearWire, they will send you a receiver and it's probably much simpler than the other two.

In any of these scenarios they might come over and install these instead of sending them to you. That part's usually up to you -- my DSL provider had a "self-install" discount deal where they just sent me the stuff and I hooked it up myself.
