Im puzzled at this weather folklore.

Evening red and morning gray are sure signs of a fine day. evening gray and morning red, put on your hat or youll wet your head

if you can explain this folklore, please put it in science terms

have you ever noticed how sometimes in the afternoon the sky is red in colour and the very next day it rains well if you have'nt, check it out sometime.

Evening red and morning gray means when in the mourning it gray and the afternoon the sky is red , the next day expect fine weather but evening gray morning red is if you wake up in the morning and find that the sky looks red(sometimes orangery red or pinkish red) then it'll be a rainy wet day.
