It is totally acceptable to wear black to a wedding now. You might want to spice up your dress with a silky colored scarf to please your MIL during the church service & then take it off for the reception

I too love black. If you are not part of the wedding party you should be able to wear whatever you want. Is you SIL going ot tell everyone that is invited to the wedding what to wear? Black is classic....wear it and feel good doing it.

It is disrespectful to wear black to a wedding. I'm sure you could find another color to wear. How about blue or purple? Those are still dark colors and you won't look like the grim ripper.

Wearing black to a wedding is generally considered bad form (perhaps an old superstition that has become standard etiquette? <--speculation), but if you explain it to bride and groom so they know your intentions, you should be fine.
Black is a great color and more people should wear it all the time.
Good luck!

Look she is your lil sis and no matter what you wear the most important thing is you are there for her, and the fact that you are making her stand out in her beautiful white dress. (or whatever color she is wearing). Screw what other people think about your color selection its what makes you happy. Personally, I always wear black dresses to any occasion it slims me down. Hope this helps.

I think black would be cute with some cute accesories of different colors that can accentuate your dress. I would do a black dress with gold lining or something like that.

go for it. black dresses are classic, just be sure that nothing else you have is black. how bout some nice blue or pink, maybe red heels. a bright purse to match or complement the shoes, light colored accesories and you'll look wonderful.

have faith me - opportunities are high the elder kinfolk would be too busy having a conniption over the actuality that the bridesmaids are donning black to even observe which you're in the comparable shade. you would be basically advantageous.

Well go with another color like red. Red is a sexy color or a baby blue.
