do women generally talk about smells. i am fascinated about.

becuase a few women, perhaps when i am out for a meal or a coffee, have said that, this and that smells off

You can use "smell" metaphorically, as in "this whole thing smells rotten." But normally smell means exactly what it says. In particular, if a person was in a restaurant and said "this smells off" what they mean is that it doesn't smell like it's supposed to. In my experience this expression is most often used when something is rotten (literally), old, sour, rancid, etc.

Example: "Don't drink that milk - it smells off."

Women seem to have a more sensitive sense of smell than guys; we basically just eat whatever's put in front of us.

They kick started the anti-smoking mindset in pubs. Isn't it nice when my clothes don't smell the day after? Metrosexual males followed with similar intolerant whinging.

I have a strong sense of smell.I say if I like or dislike.

maybe its hormone related. i know when i was pregnant , all of my senses were elevated.
