okay at school today we had a lock-down for an hour and a half. it was actually pretty cool but really scary at first cuz we thought sum1 was in the building but it was just a bad thing that happen around the area....
"a guy shot his wife and was coming to the school to get his kids and i guess every1 thought he had a gun w/ him so they were freaked out"
but while we were waiting so long my language teacher let us take out our cell phones and only play games and stuff! to bad mine was in my locker
but anyways nobody got killed or anyting from my school and the lady that got shot i guess is in surgy.
So have u ever been in a lock-down? if so... what was the reason, how long was it, and what did U do??

I'm in high school this year...but, last year we had a lockdown.
It lasted only 45 minutes.
But, it was really scary. I was in English at the time. And the classroom didn't have curtains or blinds on the windows. So we all had to crawl to one corner of the room and be really quiet. Some girls giggled and stuff and that freaked me out even more. Cuz I was afraid that if someone bad was in the school they would hear them and try to get in.
But, the reason for our lockdown was because some guy walked in the school without going to the office to checkin. So he was wandering around the campus. They locked all the doors and called the police. Turned out that it was a homeless guy just checking the trash cans for food and the ground for extra change.
I thought it was kind of funny.

Since Columbine, lock-downs have become routine when unusual things occur on a school campus. By unusual, I mean things like seeing a stranger on campus or reports from police that there are escapees from jail in the vicinity of a school. Sometimes it's scary, and usually it's just a precaution.
A couple of years ago I was standing on the sidewalk at my high school when suddenly a man ran across the grass being chased by three policemen with guns. They tackled him, and no shots were fired. It all happened so quickly that there was no lockdown, even though there was actually a dangerous situation in progress. What was amazing to me was that so many students ran behind the policemen while they were in pursuit. They put themselves in great danger by doing this.
It was then that I realized that lockdowns are a very good idea. Evidently, a lot of people don't have enough sense to avoid dangerous situations, so the school must do this for them.

I found out a year before I moved to my old high school that there was a lock-down because of a streaker. This college guy got drunk and decided to run through the halls to have a laugh. Apparently, the administration didn't think it was so funny and they called a lock-down.

Mine did. It's like the second one this year. There was a bullet found in school and we had to sit in the back of the classroom from 12:30 to 2:00...skipping my lunch period. The school was so scared but I was very annoyed sitting on the dirty floor waiting in the dark.

yeah...there were bomb threats written in one of the stalls and so we were under lock down for that. Then like a day later the high school ( iwas in middle school at the time) was having a "seen gunman with his gun at lunch" his gun turned out to be a bb gun and he was bored and shooting at signs. He didn't get to graduate and the middle schoolers got evacuated to a nearby location.

yeah my school has lock downs all the time. just to check for guns or drugs in the lockers and they bring the dogs in to smell all that.
one time we had a lock down with something that was going on in the community. they never did tell us what was happening. but they are normal.
