The Yankees won't win anything until they they focus or excuse me "SPEND MORE MONEY" on pitching instead of hitting...Yeah they got an all star line up and they'll score a million runs just like every year but their pitching in my opinion is still suspect specially with Mike Mussina being a 100 years old and Andy Petitte going on 200... They'll get to the playoffs and get booted in the divisional series just like last year....Damon just needs to keep on collecting his money from George concentrate on getting on base more and talk smack a little less... Last I checked THE CARDINALS won last year not the EVIL EMPIRE SCOREBOARD BABY!!! DAMON SHUT UP....

I'm a Sox fan, so Damon will always have a special place in my heart. Those two homeruns in 2004 to game 7 to eliminate the Yankees was absolutely the greatest thing that ever happened.
I mean let's get real. The Yanks, as much as I hate them, are still a solid team with a chance to win. Perhaps he should have kept quiet, and on 28 other teams, this wouldn't be a big deal. If a Yank or Sox says anything, it's always headlining Sportscenter.
Just part of the game...just part of the rivalry.

Then Johnny Damon should take 20 million dollars-go to Las Vegas throw the whole enchillada down on the Yankees-bet he wouldn't be so confident then. As I see it-New York did ZERO to improve themselves during the offseason-the starting pitching is entirely suspect-Alex Rodriguez is a drama queen---and ONCE AGAIN the Yankees won't come cloce to winning it if not for the reasons I mentioned above then for this reason-THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT CHEMISTRY OR THE RIGHT TYPE OF PLAYERS. The years they won it they had guys with an edge--Jeter (granted-he's still there of course) Paul O'Neill,Tino Martinez,Bernie Williams,Mike Stanton...so on-you know the names. Now they have high paid "care about my stats" players-and bums like Jaret Wright...Besides-Johnny Damon isn't clairvoyant---hell, he isn't even a HOF caliber player.30 guys in the A.L. alone I'd take over Damon.

He said the same thing in Boston when he felt confident about his team so now it's a big deal because he said it as a Yankee?
The team is solid and he called it the way he saw it.
For Chelsey F. Damon isn't a traitor. The Dumb Sox didn't want to pay the man for one extra year after all he had done.
You have the Dumb Sox management to blame for that.
They let Damon get away and sign J.D. Drew for even more money? Morons!

I believe he said this because he is a member of the New York Yankees. It would be stupid of him to say that another team is the best in baseball. I'm a Yankees fan, but I don't know if they are the best team in baseball yet. The only way to truly find out who the best team in baseball (or any sport) is to watch them play.

I'm not getting into the whole RedSox/Yanks blood feud, but on paper, the Yankees have the better team and anyone who thinks otherwise is honestly kidding themselves.
Fortunately for every other team in the MLB, titles aren't won on paper (or with paper anymore).

Sox fan are putting way too much stock in Daisuke Matsuzaka panning out to be this baseball wonder and winning 18+ games. This isn't Japan.
In addition to that nobody knows how well Papelbon will do as a starter. This is a big step for him.
The team hasn't scored that much in spring training either.

It's a little cocky. The season hasn't even started yet and he's virtually guarenteeing a playoff berth. That division isn't easy with an improved Blue Jays team and the wild card will be tough to get will 4 teams in the AL Central who will be fighting for it.Will make him look like an idiot if they miss.

Well the Yankees have been saying that every season but it hasn't happened. The games are decided on the field not in the media. You only have to go as far as last year's playoffs to verify my claims.
