Poverty can affect many generations .It gives a person of low self esteem.Never getting ahead no matter what they try.Having jobs that don't pay enough or living on a set income can hurt as well.
The cost of living goes up but not the paycheckor social security.Children in poverty usually follows the same path of being poor. They know no other way.

It affects children in the most adverse manner. Makes them psychologically insecure and socially vulnerable. Int he materialistic world we liv ein today, poor children have no means of getting the things other kids have. Hence they find other means. Stealing, drugs, illegal smuggling, underage drinking, associating with the wrong gangs. They become criminals. yet it's not really their fault to start with. Some kids actually take it on them to support their whole families. In third world countries child labour is very common. Which is illegal and deprives children of their most basic rights. It treats them inhumanly. But they have no choice. Basically, poverty is the roots of all social crimes.

Poverty deprives people of their basic citizens rights. They are underpreviliged. With no food, shelter, water, electricity, etc. they can't even afford medical treatment.

i will answer the children's part

- malnutrition
- tendency to eat junk food (hyperactivity, agression)
- less intellectually stimulating toys
- less educational opportunities
- tendency of having uneducated parents so the headstart b4 starting school is not given
- children are aware of the poverty at home so have more things on their mind, so they are less likely to focus their mind on education
- stress in parents effects child
- large percentage of poor families are single parent families
- children are less likely to be able to take on extra curriclar activities so spend free time on the streets exposing themselves to danger / crime etc
- likely take up a life of crime if there are elders around who have made a living that way

Isn't this obvious, poverty is being poor, and in a world that revolves around money, it affects almost everything.
