i traded it for a snake that i had. and i dont know how long the guy before me had it. but it looks fairly new.

My friend had the same problem you are having. If you are downloading music by music downloader such as Limewire you can experince this problem. The reason is because people can place virus and other dangerous materials into the mp3 format along with any other files you have downloaded. Bring it to your local Apple store and they will fix it for you free of charge (if you still have it under warrenty).

take it inot a local place that sells ipods and see if they can tell you whats wrong with it
