WHY WAS THE SYSTEM OF CHECKS AND BALANCES OUTLINED IN THE CONSISTUTION??

To balance power between the States and Federal government.

When the constitution was written, america had just broken away from a powerful government where the ruling party was totally controlling everything and the people in america felt that having one branch that makes all the decisions, makes them way too powerful, so the checks & balances was created in day one to protect usa against ever being in a governmental system where one branch of government had total control.
