No offense, but Paul Simon is boring and he never has made rock. I think the critics praise more Simon, but the general people buys more records from McCartney.

Paul Simon has had a better solo career in comparison to Paul McCartney's. Simon has been solo ever since he and Art Garfunkel went their separate ways. McCartney wasn't exactly a solo performer after The Beatles. He was the leader of Wings, with whom he shared the spotlight with his late wife, Linda, and other members of the band. Even after Wings, Paul often had Ringo playing on some of his songs. So, I'd have to say that Paul Simon's solo career is more highly regarded than McCartney's, even though I like both equally.
Good question!

According to my "History of Rock" textbook:
"Paul Simon is one of the very few artists that seem to have reached their creative prime after parting ways with their initial group."
as for McCartney:
"Paul McCartney's music, while popular, never remotely paralleled, critically or in terms of record sales, his work with the Beatles."
Must say I agree. McCartney's solo stuff seems a bit bland; good music, but nothing much special about it. Paul Simon's solo career produced some of my favorite songs. "Graceland", "Diamonds on the soles of Her Shoes", and "The Boy in the Bubble" are all incredible.

Personally, I like Paul Simon solo much better than Paul McCartney. McCartney just isn't the same away from the Beatles.....the songs aren't as good. Simon, however, is just as great away from ole' Art....Simon is the one who done most of the song writing, so it works.

Both
But I can only speculate that Paul McCartney's would be more regarded overall since he has more notoriety.
Both are highly talented musicians.

Let me put it this way... McCartney really hasn't released anything worth listening to since he split with Lennon (Live and Let Die is a possible exception). Part of his songwriting success was tied into his partnership with John Lennon and the competition they had with each other.
