You can really get to know someone by living with them. For example my daughter had a pet peeve about squeezing the middle of the tooth paste tube. They worked it our by getting that tooth paste that's in like a pump container. He had his peeves and they worked through them during the 1 1/2 years they lived together. Unfortunately their marriage only lasted 11 years and a son. But no one knows the future, after all we bleed and can not walk on water.

So, wither way is they way you choose to go. But, if you choose to live together I would not live together more than a couple of years without the ceremony cause after that, well, there normally is no ceremony.

Depending on you'll financial situations you may also want a pre marriage agreement, especially if you purchase property or plan to purchase property, have children, etc. It is to protect both of you that I even mention it.

Hope you are happy no matter which you choose. Good luck.

I believe it depends on the couple. Me and my boyfriend have lived together for 5 1/2 years and are happier than ever. We have a 3 year old son. Have bought a house together and have all of our checking accounts and everything together. I have never been happier. I don't believe a marriage certificate would change my feeling at all. We do plan to marry when we get around to it but I am in no hurry. Our friends were together for 5 years and go married. Their marriage ended a little less than a year later I think sometimes marriage put extra stress on a relationship. I am not against marriage, just do what ever works for you!!

I say go with co-habitating. Its easier to get out of. It worked sooo much better for me than the marriage thing did. Oh boy is the hate mail bout to come now.

Marriage. There's a quote that I love. "One advantage of marriage, it seems to me, is that when you fall
out of love with each other, it keeps you together until maybe
you fall in again."
