She just broke up w/ this guy about 3 months ago and she was like super sad. She started to wear black more often and writing depressing poems about how she felt. They were so horrible I even felt bad for her. The guy that dumped her is my best freind. He dumped her because he wanted someone else ( he didn't get that girl). Then about a week ago he asked to go back out w/ her. She was more than happy to. Unfortunately that only lasted five days because they both just didn't like it. Now she's drawing stuff like depressing pictures and cartoons. What should I do to help her get over him?

The best thing to do is to just be there for her when she
needs you...and to give her some time...... stuff like that affects people in different ways....spend some time with her to help her forget what happened

You need to really comfort her. Have a night out or something to cheer her up. If you feel she's turning goth or a bit emo (it sounds like she is--no offense), then talk to her about the good things in her life, how there are many more fish in the sea, and things like that. Tell her about all the other people who love/like her, like you, her family, etc. In your night out, do something fun to keep her mind off of sad things, go see a funny movie and then go out for ice cream later. If she is a good drawer, encourage her to draw nice things other than depressing pictures and cartoons. Maybe she can sell her artwork, if it's really good. Basically, if you really care about her, then you need to be a shoulder that she can lean on and make her happy about her life. P.S.--if you notice some strange behavior or signs that she's been doing drugs or cutting herself (depression can do that), then tell someone IMMEDIATELY!!! There is also the possibility that she is not depressed, but just feels like expressing her feelings in this way. Talk to her about it. Hope she feels better!! ^_^

You are not to do anything beyond listening. No advice, no words of wisdom*, nothing --- just lend your ears. That's the best thing you can do for her.

*Whatever you say might backfire...it might cause a rift between you and your buddy...so hush, ok?
