There are two claims made by the hoax believer.

1) They claim that the LM (Lunar Module) should have blasted a crater underneath itself when it landed. This is refuted easily on two counts. First, the engine was not operating at full power when the LM landed. They had to throttle back to about 10 percent power to land. Second, the astronauts demonstrated that the layer of soil on the moon is quite thin. (The moon is very rocky in other words.)

2) They claim that for the astronauts to have left crisp footprints the way they did proves that the soil was moist. (Damp soil is not possible in a vacuum.) This can be refuted easily as well. There is no atmosphere on the moon. Therefore, when you press the soil together, there is no air to keep the grains apart. And, once pressed together, there is no air pressure trying to push the grains apart.

The claim is that the engine should've blasted all the dust out, and formed a visible blast crater.
