I am writing and essay for my English IV class and it is based on this question. And I would like to know some other people's point of views on the topic so that I could inlcude those opinions in my essay.

"Cruel and unusual" is based on opinion and culturally-bound. I think hanging is unusual, but that was the standard way for aristocratic women to commit suicide in the classical Greek and Roman world. But as the previous answerer already voiced, when such a terrible crime has been committed, why should the criminal get a voice about their punishment when they have denied the voice of another?

in my opinion, someone convicted of rape of murder in teh 1st degree and such deserve their punishement
