My Civil Procedure professor was an entertainment attorney, primarily dealing with professional athletes before he decided to teach instead of practice and I know he took a significant pay-cut. Generally, entertainment law is a big dollar practice for a lawyer, depending on the status and number of the clients that you represent, where you practice, etc. Don't ever pursue law solely for the money , that's not what it's about, just for some attorneys is one of the perks. If your daughter is truly interested in this field, she ought to look into schools that offer entertainment law as a specialty with the JD. This is a growing area in law. I know Valparaiso, one of the schools I looked at, was just starting to develop a program. An undergraduate background in some sort of business specialty(PR, management, etc.) would probably also be to her advantage.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. what is "THEIR" salary?

Can your daughter spell?

Perhaps at 14, she'd do better to think of things within your family's reach.
