Well, as the mother of 3 girls (now ages 16-20), they have worn makeup since 14-15 years old. I do not allow them to wear a lot of makeup. I didn't wear makeup until I was 21 and I had great skin until that point. You shouldn't wear makeup to cover up beautiful skin and you shouldn't cover up acne with makeup because it only makes it worse. At 13 I would say if you want to wear makeup it should only be a light foundation (do NOT go any darker than 1/2 shade more than your skin tone). Less is better as far as makeup goes. To this day I don't let my girls go out of the house looking like they should stand on a street corner (if you know what I mean). Whatever, make sure you get into a good face washing regiment every night (makeup or not). Wash with a gentle cleanser then moisturize. Drinking lots of water is also very good for your skin.

A little makeup yes a total smokey eye way too young. Just keep it light and natural. Use a nice light blush a little mascara and some lip gloss. At 13 you probably don't need concelar or a heavy foundation. If I were you I would consult a makeup person at one of the major department stores so that they can come up with a nice clean natural look for you. Just don't pile on a lot of stuff and you will be fine.

The reason people disagree on whether or not younger women should be allowed to wear makeup is that youthful skin is the most beautiful of all. To put makeup on glowing skin and bright eyes is rather like gilding the Venus de Milo; part of the beauty is in the simple purity.
Makeup is essentially intended to do three things: create the appearance of youth, create the appearance of health, and create the appearance of regular features. All of these have as their ultimate goal the attraction of men, when all is said and done--men are biologically hardwired to respond to young healthy women that look like good candidates for bearing healthy children.
If you are old enough to start dating, then you are old enough to wear makeup. If you are still feeling a little nervous about adolescence and not quite sure you're ready to handle the dating thing, keep it to clear lip gloss (a bit of pink colour is okay too), and maybe some concealer for blemishes and a little powder to take any oily shine off your shin. If you think you're ready to date, add some soft blusher, mascara, and subtle eyeshadow, and maybe a bit of pencil (not liquid) eyeliner to make your lashes look thicker. Nothing dramatic; guys don't actually like obvious makeup.
You should wash your face nightly whether you wear makeup or not, to remove environmental pollutants (i.e., dirt, pollen, etc.). Also, an SPF 15 sunscreen daily, summer or winter, will help keep your skin beautiful and young for much longer. You are NEVER too young for sunscreen!

I wouldn't go all out with full heavy make up. But for 13, I think lip gloss and mascara should be enough. Now if you were turning 16 I would tell ya different. 13 is still a little young. Enjoy being 13! You have such a carefree life and you don't even know it! Don't try to grow up too fast

Yes, I think 12 is fine for some makeup, as long as it's nothing too extreme. I started wearing makeup at 12 myself and plan to let my 2 daughters wear makeup at the same age if they want to.

Haha me too. I'm 12 and im gonna be 13 in May. I wear make-up to school everyday. It's ok as long as you wash your face when you get home. This is all the make up you need:
1) Foundation(apply only on the necessary spots)
2) Powder(apply on top of foundation to set)
3) Eyeliner
4) Macara

You probably don't need any. Clogs your pores. The natural look is in. Maybe a little lip gloss but that's it. And only if your parents allow it. You must have a lot of homework to do so I'll let you go now.
