I have a book titled: "One Smooth Stone" written by a dentist in Utah who did exactly that - he chose to stop filing his income taxes, claiming that it was unconstitutional. The book was fascinating (and yes, he actually was my personal dentist.) In the end, he spent years and many thousands of dollars fighting, many months in prison and much frustration in appeals.

He did eventually win - yes it's true, he no longer pays federal income tax as he won injunctive relief, however the toll it took on him and his family was brutal and I have to question his wisdom.

So to answer your question, yes, I am aware that it can be done, but no I'm not willing to pay the price which would be devastating to my wife & kids and would result in my loss of employment, fines, prison and lots of misery. Tell that to the IRS as they lock you up. That is what they got Al Capone for, not paying his taxes. I dare you to not pay this year, or next, or the next..
