We bought the car in 2005 , and during January 2006 & 2007 , the external temperature display has shown up to 60 degrees Celsius during periods of varied cold / average weather . Last year , it reset itself pretty quickly , but this year , it's stubbornly showing at least 29C , with no apparent intention of rethinking ! Any ideas ?

ext temp sensor usualy placed at the front of the car, somewhere behind the bumper grill.. in front of the radiator or the a/cond condenser..look for a wire

They are usually behind the front bumper, and again usually you will have to take the front bumper of. sorry i cant talk certain because i dont remember doing that kind of work on a megane, but in most cars thats where the external temp sensor.
