Today is the spring equinox (means equal nights) and it is when the daylight time is the same as the night time. The longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere is the 21st of June, the summer solstice.

No, today (March 20th) is not the longest day of the year.
The first day of spring depends on where you are; what time zone you're in -- for some people (western hemisphere), it's March 20, and for some (eastern hemisphere) it's March 21. For me, there will be 12 hours and 08 minutes of sunlight.

Where I am, the longest day of the year (15 hours and 1 minute of sunlight) is June 21. For other places, it might be June 22.

The longest day, aka the summer solstice and the start of summer, is the day with the most hours of sunlight out of all the other days in the year. For the Northern hemisphere, it is usually around 21 June, when the sun's rays are perpendicular (at right angles) with the Tropic of Cancer, 23.5 degrees north of the equator. While this is happening in the northern hemisphere, the opposite will be happening in the southern hemishpere, ie it will be the shortest day, the day with the least hours of sunlight. And vice versa.

The first day of spring is tomorrow and it's not the longest day...there are 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness...that's why it's called the Spring Equinox...it's equal. First day of Summer if the longest; first day of winter is the shortest. Spring and Fall are equal.

No. The first day of spring (and fall) is the time when day and night are both 12 hours in both the northern and southern hemispheres.

The longest day in the northern hemisphere is the first day of summer and that day is also the shortest in the southern hemispere (the first day of their winter)

If you are at the equator, the sun passed directly overhead today and is moving slightly toward the north each day until the solstice in June when it begins moving south again.
