a falling star or a shooting star crosses the sky very very quickly. So to "catch the falling star" means one must seize an opportunity as soon as it arises and not wait any longer because it will be too late.

Falling star, shooting star; same thing, a meteor. In mythology, a sign from the Gods - from Heaven. To see one meant good luck (the Gods are with you). To catch one and keep it, would be good luck for always. Except for Perry, there is no evidence that anyone has ever caught one. Well maybe Bill Gates :-)

To catch the luck. We all wish on that star right. Well if you actually caught it...think about it..you would have all the luck and your dreams come true.

I think it means follow or 'catch' your dreams. Because catching a star is technically impossible so it should probably be following your dreams. It better be!

I believe that it means to not let an opportunity pass you by, grab as much as you can every time you can. Life is too short to miss out on anything.

Take your wish and go for it. You will have the matched success of your efforts. You will get what you put into it. "If you don't have what you want, you are not trying hard enough to get it."

Catch A Falling Star was a hit song in the 1950s, made popular by the singer, Perry Como. In the song, it's a metaphor for appreciating something beautiful or wonderful (e.g. love) and holding onto it so it's there when you need it.
(Holding on to it in an emotional or spiritual way, of course. You can't hold onto a star any more than you can catch one.) It captures the idea of the magical experiences in life.

Here are the lyrics:

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day

For love may come and tap you on the shoulder some starless night
Just in case you feel you want to hold her
You'll have a pocketful of starlight
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day

For love may come and tap you on the shoulder some starless night
Just in case you feel you want to hold her
You'll have a pocketful of starlight ...Pocketful of starlight, hm,hm,hm,hm,hm,hm

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day
Save it for a rainy, save it for a rainy, rainy, rainy, day

For when your troubles start multiplyin' and they just might
It's easy to forget them without tryin'
With just a pocketful of starlight
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket

Save it for a rainy day
Save it for a rainy day)
Save it for a rainy day
