The massage is being offered through my work (10 minutes for $10!!!) however, it is NOT a prenatal massage. Just a standard back massage. I'm 6 months pregnant as of today. Would I be allowed to get on even though it's not prenatal?

Absolutely! Just make sure the person giving you the massage knows you are PG. There are certain pressure points you would not want stimulated (mostly on hands and feet) while PG. I had hour long massages all through my pregnancies and it really helped!

Do not do it. There are points on the body that might cause you to go into early labor if the therapist is unfamiliar with prenatal massage. Go to a spa that offers prenatal massages. They have tables that will accomodate your belly with an adjustable strap to support your baby and the chest area is adjustable to accomodate your breasts. You'll be more comfortable and you'll be able to lay face down, which is something I'm sure you haven't done for a few months now.

If it is on a massage chair not a table I don't think there will be any problems. You should talk to the massage therapist before you get it but it should be fine. Just don't lay on your belly or let the therapist massage the belly.

I have a friend who is a massage therapist and she said it's very touchy to massage pregnant women. Some WILL NOT do it at all. Check with your dr. or with the professionals in your area to see what their opinions are.

If you are going to be sitting in a massage chair, I say go for it, it will be wonderful. A licensed massuse should know where to knead your back when you are pregnant. You should not however lie on a massage table on your belly or flat on your back.

I would check and ask what the therapist thinks. If they're liscensed, they would hopefully give you the best advice. Some massage techniques are not ok for pregnant people because it could possibly induce labor. Best of luck.

Sure, as long as you're not laying on your belly. And the pressure points that can trigger labor are in your ankle not your back. Avoid foot massages.

As long as you lay on the table with the big hole cut out, so your belly isn't squished, it's okay. Also the kind of seated massages are okay, it's not going to hurt you.

Be careful. There are certain areas that shouldn't be massaged if you are pregnant because they can promote contractions. Just stick with the shoulders!!!
