Hi. In excel, when you type in 9-15 or something like 10-15, it changes to the date that should correspond to the number entered. I had some trouble with this too. Are you trying to type 9 minus 15? for that you have to put this into the cell (what's in brakets is in the cell) [=9-15] except for the brackets. Otherwise, you have to right click the cell and go to format cell, then click on number, then click the desired cell format. From here you can align the cell, put different fonts and patterns, and borders also. I hope this was of help to you.

By default, cells are in General format, which attempts to do some "smart" things, for example, guessing that "9-15" is a date.

"Text" format (via Format->Cells while the cell, column, or region is selected) will remove that guessing.

right click the cells you want to change and click format cells, on the number tab pick date and from there you can select the date format that you want displayed.

If it is just the basic number 9-15 then just right click the cells you want to change and click format cells, on the number tab pick text or general and it will show exactly what you type.

The cell you are typing in has been set up to out numbers into a date format. Select the cell and go to Format--Cells and pick Text from the category list. Then it will show whatever you type in the cell.

Hi,
Excel feels that you are trying to feed date.
If you want to do a calculation you need to preceed it with equal sign "="
If you want to show this as a text preceed it with " ' " to let Escel understand it as a text.

Regards.
