For a Teacher you just need a basic laptop, since most likely you will be using software like Word and what not.

In which case any laptop would be good, of course it depends on how much you want to sink into purchasing one.

Dell computers have cheap and reliable and most teachers that I know use one at the college I go to.

1. See if there is any special software needed.

2. Apple and likely others have special rebate programs for schools. This includes teachers buying personally.

3. Best? Very difficult to say. Easy to say that the high end Apple will come out to almost the same exact price as a Dell and other major brands.

4. I would suggest she favor an Apple. If Microsoft Office is needed Microsoft offers it on a Mac. Many other things can be done from a browser. The Mac comes with a lot of built in software where you need to buy it for a PC.

Check around. She needs something that is easy to manage so if she is not technically competent at maintaining a computer many such people do just fine with a Mac. People who have a PC tended to need a technical expert to help them.

As they say your mileage will vary.
