I always feel that skilled craftsmen have a rhythm to their work. They hammer with rhythm, they lay bricks and block with a metallic clankity clank clank clank, they work in unison like a choreographed dance. Watching workers build a house is a ballet. It should be music to your ears.

One career that has a terrible employment shortage is nursing. You can go to a local hospital or nursing home and talk to nurses in different fields (i.e. emergency, maternity, psych ward, trauma, long term care, physical therapy, etc.). You can also talk to the head of the nursing department at your school to find out what courses have to be taken, job availability, etc. There is so much information that you can obtain fairly easily. It's just a thought.
I was a music major in college myself, but I had several other interests too. You might just to look through the student handbook and see what degrees your school offers and pick one that you might think is interesting.

Write about lawyers. They have to deal with everyday people in everyday situations. Sometimes they'll represent someone knowing good and damn well that their guilty. But by taking advantage of loopholes in the law and discrediting the opposite party in their case, they have to convince 12 jurors who have all different opinions to feel the same way about an issue in order to save their client's ***. I just spent the last two days doing jury duty and trying to come to a reasonable decision with eleven random people whom all feel different on the subject is difficult. Had i not just gotten out of the courthouse i would have never suggested this but its fresh on my mind and i find it interesting.

I wish I knew more about music.

How about how people are willing to cheat to get ahead in a career and sometimes it can not only HARM their TRUE passion but others can "get-hurt" in the process.
