Not changed so much as fine tuned. This is my relaxation and time to myself, pathetic huh? Seriously, my husband works so many hours he doesn't want to talk politics after a long day at work, and I'm a political junkie, so I come here to yes, blow off some steam mostly. But I have learned some new facts here, about more than one issue, so it does have its rewards.
I too find the conspiracy nutjobs to be comic relief, and the grammar Nazis are too funny as well - especially when they give their grammatical instruction but leave no answer to the question.

I guess I could also say that while my mind hasnt been changed, I have learned some things.
Im not a person knew to being politically aware, involved etc..
im not some kid fresh into college and malleable and ready to jump on any bandwagon CT.
There are some people who are new to it all... or young, who are discovering what their ideological gravitations, their political philosophies and so forth.
This is entertainment, to blow off steam, to learn some, and hey if someone can change my mind on something at least im open to it happeneing if it makes sense.
But also I am representing the logic of what I think is right for others who dont know what they believe in yet.

I would not necessarly say some of the conversations I have had have changed my position...but it has helped me understand the stance of the other sides of the issue.
This does not happen often, because everyone wants to mud-sling and rip the parties instead of explain their position, and provide cold hard facts - real numbers etc.
However, I am open to being wrong in my beliefs if the facts point that way.
I think so many of the posters on here are just trying to get a rise from the other side, there is no actual debate or dialogue.
And, comparing ANYONE, AT ANY TIME to Nazis or Hitler is, for lack of a better term, unacceptable. I know, free speach. ANd you are free to say it. But no politician in the US is like Hitler. He was a one of a kind meth head, schitzo, paranoid, hate filled, facist.

I would not say my mind has been changed. But, I have formulated opinions about issues here on which I was undecided. This forum is great for that.
What is particularly helpful is the email conversations, where you can have a one-on-one discussion about the issue. I find it disappointing that a lot of people here don't have an active link to their email.

In fact, mine has. I once asked an open and honest question about the right to own guns. As a Canadian, it always boggled my mind...the American obsession with gun ownership. So I asked why people felt it was their right, and more importantly, why they wanted them so badly. And in the end, I saw a whole new side to the argument.
I think it all comes down to asking legitimate questions...and the way you ask them. Many come on to do no more than 'soap box' or bait the 'other side'. No one learns anything from that. But if you honestly want an answer, and you ask in a respectful manner, you can learn alot!

I have been given a fresh point of view on many topics. But as far as changing my mind I don't think so.

I was pro-choice until I saw a video of an abortion here on YA.
I saw the two other answers and I agree about that, but unfortunately since the message boards were closed, all the trolls came here.

Mind has not changed but I have to say I have learned quite a bit, which is the object of the game isn't it?

That's not the point of this place at all.
I have no illusions concerning those I disagree with.
I just like to yell through my keyboard at them,as they do me.
If anyone thinks they're winning hearts and minds here, they're an idiot.
