I suspect because they have chosen emotions over intellect. You don't have to do either one. Use your (symbolic) heart, AND your pragmatism, (head). Bring them into harmony & that is the best of all worlds. Mind & "feelings" have equal benefits. One without the other most often create disaster.

Because some decisions are best left to the variables of chance. When you think with your head, you are weighing only the known obstacles/ opportunities. When you think with your heart, you are suspending logical thought and opening yourself up to more possibilities. Yes, the emotional part is still in your head, the heart is just a metaphor or something people came up with a long time ago because they didn't know how else to call it. Some cultures refer to it as the stomach, so they go with their stomach instead of their head. Kind of a funny thought, huh?

It's an expression. We all know that love and emotions don't actually come from your heart, but it's a cliche that hasn't lost steam, so this expression merely means to not be calculating in decisions that have to do with love. Impulsion can be a good thing sometimes. Life would be boring without it.

It means either go with your instincts or feeling instead of logic. It is just an opinion and usually is a bad idea, as strong feelings cause people to murder in the heat of the moment ect.

Because they are idiots.
Those who follow their hearts over their head are the ones who stay in an abusive realtionship because they "love them". Well...If the HEAD were to be used, they would see that getting beat is not love.

I agree.
Because there is no such thing as love. There is lust & there is desire. And everything else just happens. 'going by your emotions' is porbably a lame excuse of doing the things you won't do otherwise. Thankyou & have a nice day.

I think it basically means, go with your feelings instead of what common sense tells us to do.
