He's good with promise looking to get better. Time will tell how good or great he will become.

none of either. Brian Roberts is a better fielder and baserunner, and if you said Robinson Cano was the best ever, that would be crazy. Freddy Sanchez is underrated (on PIT) and isn't as good as Cano or Roberts, but he is a great average guy. It's betwen Cano and Roberts for 2nd best, Chase Utley is the best by far. He's got a power bat, an average bat, can field, and can steal a few bases too.

Chase Utely is now and Cano is best American Leaguer, but best ever are you kidding me. This is where Yankee fans bug me. Just because a player is a solid major leager and maybe a couple time all star all of a sudden he is in the running for the best ever because he played in a Yankee uniform. Rogers Hornsby, Joe Morgan, Craig Biggio, Ryne Sandberg, Rod Carew, Roberto Alomar, Jackie Robinson, Lou Whittiker. These are just some that came to mind that Robinson Cano couldn't even touch. He is a good player and probably an all star but come on with the best ever talk. It's not even close.

What is it with Yankee fans? After one season (admittingly a very good one) the guy has already earned a spot in Cooperstown? Seems like the same things were being said about Soriano about four years ago.
In another three years, either he'll be the toast of the town or the scapegoat for hitting .125 in a playoff series and be run out on a rail.

Based on previous answers, I can see that I'm not needed here. To think that this guy can even hold the jocks of Joe Morgan and Ryne Sandberg is premature at best.
I'm not saying that he won't be one of the greatest, but to say that after two years is a bit much. In 2000 you may have said that Rick Ankiel would be one of the best pitchers ever. In 1998 you could have said that about Kerry Wood. There's a lot that will happen between now and the time he retires. If you're a Cano fan, just enjoy it now and hope that in 10 years you still feel this way.

This is one thing I hate about sports. Everytime someone comes along that shows a little bit of promise, everyone is always ready to jump on the bandwagon and proclaim them the best of all time. Cano has a long long time to go before he can even be mentioned amongst the names of greats like:
Ryne Sandberg, Joe Morgan, Eddie Collins, Robbie Alomar,Rogers Hornsby.

I'd give Rogers Hornsby the best all-time. Chase Utley is the best right now. Cano is good, but he'll have to put together about 15 or so more great years to be considered the best all-time.

he has a chance 2 be but we cant tell right now becuz hes still a very young player and he still has stuff to learn.they,ve been alot of great players who have played the 2nd base position so right now its hard 2 tell if he,ll b the best 2nd baseman ever.but he has at least more than 10 years left 4 him in MLB so he has a really good chance

Cano can very well be the best second baseman ever, if he can play like he has been playing for the rest of his career. He should have won the Rookie of the Year award in 2005.
