I have been wondering about breast reductions for a while now. At 20, I am a 38DD and I feel I am getting bigger. It is so hard to be comfortable and find clothes, swimsuits, etc. that fit.

So I was hoping maybe someone would be able to help me with my questions...Ok so first off does it have to be a hinder to my physical health before insurance will cover, and if it does, how much does it usually run? Do you have to be up to a certain size before they will even consider you? And how much and long after will you be in pain?

These are just questions I feel I need answered before I can seriously consider this. Thank you for you time:)

I am also similar age to you (I'm 21) and I am having my reduction in exactly 4 weeks :) My first consultation with my surgeon answered all the questions that you have asked. It doesnt matter what size you are as to whether or not you can have a reduction or not. I am a 34G and my surgeon took one look at me, fully clothed and said that I needed it done, but the surgeons are very supportive and will help you out with deciding what size to go to etc. I do not have Health Insurance so my surgery is coming to a total of AU $10, 500 - give or take another $1000 depending on how many days I need to stay in hospital. Although this cost does seem excessive you get back 20% from Health Tax and 10% from Medicare so it only comes to about $7500.

I hope this has helped you and if you like I can email you after my surgery to let you know more.

Good luck with your decision

You don't have to be a certain size to be considered a candidate. It does have to effect your health in order for it to be partially covered. Insurance will not cover the entire thing. The cost for a breast reduction is about 3,000 to 6,000 bucks. Recovery time is about 6 weeks, but you see your doctor about 3 times in those six weeks. You may need to do some research before you seriously consider this. Research your doctors and make sure to not settle for the lowest cost availble. You get what you pay for.....

Good Luck and I wish you the BEST!

I cant beilve , I was that size when I was 16, I got it done when I turned 17, I had the same problems too, They told me that my paremnt's insurne will pay for it, cause I had really bad neck pains , and back pains, I was nerves to , but when I got it done I was so happy, the pain was gone , and now I can fit all my clothes, they will give you pain killers , if you are in pain, I was only hurting for a week , even though the docter said I could only stay in bed for a while , and dont use your arm much , Trust me, it's so worth it, and they doc will give you someone's phone number and you can ask them questions , of what they went through , and they will tell you that it's so worth it, and nothing to worry about, good luck

The insurance questions you need to ask your person who handles your insurance. Most insurance companies have a website with phone numbers or email areas so you can contact them. There is no size limit per say with breast reduction. As for pain afterward hopefully someone else will answer that question. My daughter is your size and only 16 and we have told her that if she ever feels she wants the surgery to ask and we will be glad to let her have it done.

Insurance will cover it if you complain about back/neck/shoulder pain, rashes under your breasts, and grooves in your shoulders from your bra digging into them. My surgery was $8,000 and insurance covered 100% of it.

If you want to go from a C to an A, they won't turn you down. Or from a B to an A (though they may question why).

I was in NO pain. None whatsoever. There was a little discomfort but it was not that bad.
