Abortion vs. Right to Choose. Whether English should be the U.S. national language. Death penalty vs. life in prison.
One topic I had to debate this year was "The use of a cell phone should be prohibited by law while driving." I was against so I stated that cell phones are no more of a distraction while driving than eating or talking with a passenger. That's a good place to start.

Global warming is a good debate topic. There is still enough skepticism among non-scientist folk to provide good info. I had to do a debate for school and i was on the side saying that global warming isn't contributed to by mankind, and theres a ton of info out there.

why alt. fuel made from corn or wheat is Morally wrong..
it would be an easy topic..... and you would suck everyone in...
here is the reason.. poor people need a cheap staple for food.. corn or wheat... but once we start making fuel from corn or wheat... alot of farmers will stop producing other crops to produce this cash crop... the price will skyrocket and then corn products and wheat products will also sky rocket.. it also means lots of other food will no-longer be grown.. or they will cost alot more because of the limited supply and the fact that the farmer is losing money to grow those items instead of corn or wheat... which means a drop in the food supplies around the world and food supply to the poor..
