Advise them not to call you at work for starters; getting fired won't help anyone.

I actually called my personal lawyer about these so called lawyers. They are not real lawyers. They are just another form of a Debt collector. You will not go to jail and they will not garnish your wages. They can take you to court but more than likely they wont because in Federal Court the finance charges are dropped and they cant charge you any late fees or no payment fees so you will come out in the better to let them do this. They can not call you at work as long as you tell them stop and tell them you will mail them a letter to tell them they can only contact you by letter in the mail. You do need to send them this letter.

No, they won't arrest you. And, they are not allowed to call you at your job if you tell them to stop. They do have the right to call you at home, however.
No, you won't be arrested...what will happen if you don't make arrangements to pay is they will take your butt to court. The judge will order you to pay and if you do not, they will seize your bank accounts, attach your paycheck and take anything valueable you own (like your car) until the debt is satisfied. In addition, you will end up paying their court costs.
Best thing you can do is call them and make arrangements to start making regular monthly payments. If that is not a possibility, the look in the phone book and find your local Consumer Credit Assistance center. Make an appointment with them and let them straighten out your mess. They will notify your creditors that they are now in charge of your money and you will begin to pay. That will stop the phone calls.
You will be required to have the Assistance center deduct money from your paychecks in the agreed upon amount to make payments on your bills.
You will never, ever escape credit card debt. They are pit bulls and will hound you until they get their money or until you file bankruptcy, whichever comes first.

1. Doubtful that you would go to jail over credit card debt. The worst that they can do to you is sue you for the money and place something bad into your credit report.
2. You can tell creditors not to call you at work. If they do not comply they are in violation of the law. They cannot harass you on the job if you ask them to refrain form calling.

1) Send a letter to the collection agency (or attorney) and advise them that you cannot accept telephone calls at work. That is a Do Not Contact request. They have to honor this. 2) Set up a payment arrangement; or in the event you don't have the funds to do this, depending upon how much debt you have 3) call an attorney and arrange to file for bankruptcy. It is really not as difficult as people think it is. There are many reputable attorneys who do this for a living - look for one. If you aren't sure - call your local bar association - they can generally refer you to an attorney in any specialty.

They are not lawyers the are scum debt collectors. Check your state laws as they are not allowed to call your place of employment in MO. Tell them 3 words Cease and desist this action and I will see about restitution. They will harrass you at every turn.
You will not go to jail, if they say they are lawyers get the name of the office and call the bar association, they do hav erules against this. Get names addresses so you know who you are dealing with.
You have to use the words Cease and desist this action at my employer.

If they are calling your job that's harrassment. You may have to declare bankruptcy, unless you can get them to agree to a payment plan. The only way you could go to jail, is if you committed credit card fraud. Contact the credit card company, and see if you can get them to reduce your interest, start making payments, and you should be alright.

You are probably not going to jail. There are only two ways you can get them to back off. Pay off the debt or file for bankruptcy protection.

You should go to credit card counselors. They will take all your debt, get the companies to either reduce your interest rate or remove it all together, then you make one monthly payment to the counselors. This was a great option for me as I had debt after college.
