First determine if it's raw or hard-boiled. Spin the egg, like it's a top, if it just lays down and wobbles, then it is not cooked. If, when you spin it, it spins , like a top, it is hard-boiled.
To determine if it's a fresh egg, fill a bowl with water, place the egg in the water and see if it floats, (fresh egg), or it is suspended, (questionable).

A raw egg is an egg that is totally raw-- liquid insides, mostly kept cool, etc.
A boiled egg is an egg that has been put in boiling water for about five-ten min.
The difference is that the insides of an egg that has been boiled is solidified, making it an entirely solid object, instead of sort of a gourd. Another difference is that the boiling kills most of the bacteria in an egg, which sickens most humans.
One last parting note. You CAN eat a raw egg, it's just stupid, because you get sick from the bacteria.

I sure hope you are asking how to easily tell the difference between a raw egg and a hard boiled one, without cracking it open.
On a flat surface (make sure it is not going to fall on the floor) gently spin the egg, use one finger to stop the egg quickly and let go. A hard boiled egg will stay still, while a raw egg will continue spinning.

Cooking/ 'boiling' the egg is the difference. Raw eggs are the the ones that you get at the supermarket in a carton (or straight from the chicken!) What a strange question!

A boiled egg is semi-solid and a raw egg is mostly liquid. A boiled egg is cooked. A boiled eggs yolk is solidified and a raw eggs yolk is not. A boiled egg, when spun quickly on a hard surface, will stand up on end.

One is cooked the other isn't. You can eat raw egg. It is frowned upon these days because the raw egg may contain a bacteria called Salmonella, it s killed in the cooking process.

The proteins in an egg are permanently denatured (their shape changes) when they are cooked.
Other differences include:
Cooked eggs aren't so messy if you drop it.
cooked eggs are nice with crispy bacon
Raw eggs are needed when making mayonaise
You can't beat cooked eggs (i.e. whisk them to make meringues etc.)
Those are the differences I can think of at the moment.
Your first answerer is correct. This is a wierd question!
