The sun and many other stars are this class and they exist for billions of years as normal G stars and white dwarfs are made from these? or not?

Yup, they will all become white dwarf stars at the end of their lives. Like our Sun, they will spend about 10 billion years on the main sequence, then do the whole red giant thing before eventually shedding their outer layers and becoming white dwarfs.
