First is whatever works for you. I never gave my son the formula first and he is just fine. He is now 10 months old still gets his solids 3 times a day and the recommeneded 32 -40 ounces a day formula which means he only gets 4-5, 8 ounce bottles per day. If your son refuses the bottle first then the obvious answer no matter what all these parents will tell you the "books and experts say" is give him the soilds first. He should also at 6 months be starting on a sippy. And who said do not give formula with solids? Who in the hell came up with that? I give my child formula with his solids or I give him water and I dare anyone to come into my home and tell me otherwise.

Do what works for you and your child who cares what others have to say

If your child wants food first, give him food first. i think we have a problem with giving children drinks with their food. Usually what happens is the kids fill up on drink, then don't want to eat. Get away from the table for an hour and want to eat again.

Always food first, then an ounce or 2 in a cup of milk to wash his meal down.

Solids are in addition to his all ready normal feeding schedule, we don't cut back on breast milk or formula just to get food in, we give in addition to formula or breast milk

Well firstly do NOT use formula milk to "wash down" solid food when weaning a six month old....they will associate the two actions of drinking from a bottle and eating solids together, and you'll have a terrible time getting him off the bottle in a year or so.
Breast milk or formula should always be given first. I'm guessing at 6 mths you are just starting to wean baby, so milk first then small amounts of baby rice mixed with the breats/formula milk. Just a few mouthfuls at first. Thenmore bottlemilk if they want it....

I think what you want to hear is feed your baby solids first and then top them off with formula, but that is only when they are ready for solids.

combination her cereal with the formula. attempt giving her the bottle after eating, making useful to not fill her up with cereal. As for teething, the bottle is meant to maintain because of the fact it places counterpressure on the gums. attempt utilising a speedy flow nipple.
