Hard to say....but don't limit racism to the south and whites. It's everywhere...from all races.
I would say that Mississippi has made more progress than any other Southern state. (perhaps because we had farther to go)
It still exists, but it's more isolated now.

I was born in Mississippi, lived in Alabama and Louisiana. I went up North to go to school. I have discovered that there is far more racism in the Northern states than the Southern. Maryland is really bad-both ways. New York (city) is terrible, as is Michigan. Philadelphia is also tough. Also racism against whites is extremely bad up North. Racism in any direction is bad. We need not be a part of it.

way down in alabama....born and raised, hands down...there are rebel flags EVERYWHERE, from the age of 5-55. its inevitable to stubmble across some hillbilly biker with a beer in hand and a rebel flag on the side... its sad. i never fell into the rebel flag, fad. its become a trademark now, rather than a symbol of our history...and people of course take it the wrong way...
BUT, we have been raised to do so. every school i have attended has been segregated...not purposly, but just raised that way...

I'm from Mississippi. We're getting better but I'd probably say us. It's still terrible, most of us get along but when it comes down to it we don't like each other.
