and if they are not spots why are chess, spelling bee, and scrabble championships shown on ESPN?

They may not be sports but ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network... it doesnt have to be a sport... just aslong as its entertaining... and some one out there, i dont know why, finds that stuff amusing... plus its to fill up slots.... They will also put that stuff on when like the Super Bowl is on... no one will be watching their channel anyways

maybe just to fill up time. it doesnt take any athletic ability to play these three but they are all 'games' just like basketball, football hockey and baseball. hell, include poker in there too since thats on espn also.

i think its just the evolution of the channel...much like mtv. but now on mtv to watch actual music videos u go to mtv2 or any other mtv related channel.

espn hasnt gotten to that point yet but theyre getting there.
