It is not illegal in England and I have looked extensively at Scottish law and cant find no reference to cousins there the only difference in Scotland being that adopted children are brought into the scope of the definition.Many people marry cousins especially ethnic minorities.

No its not against the law to date your cousin nor is it against the law to marry them under Scottish law. Each to their own, I suppose!!

There is no law against dating but shagging is against the law. You can hump yer 2nd cousin though.

You probably could date and even go on to marry your cousin - but it's very much looked down upon by most people for the obvious reasons. :-/

Not at all. Marriage between cousins is also allowed, and any offspring are as likely to be healthy as any other baby, unless there is a family history of illness. I'm amazed at how judgemental the other answerers tend to be.

In Scotland, as in the rest of the UK you can marry your cousin. Check out the Bible for the bounds of consanguinity.

The question is not whether it's against the law to date your cousin, but rather what psychological problem do you suffer that you'd even entertain the idea? Seriously, seek professional help.
