As soon as people stop buying them. Have you noticed any other companies producing postage stamps? I didn't think so. Where are the people who go berserk at monopolies now? The government will keep raising prices on postage stamps until they can't possibly make any more money off of them, because they are close to a true monopoly: you can send letters through UPS or FedEx, but it costs you out the yin-yang if you do. Most of that price has nothing to do with those companies' rates; it's taxes and regulations from the government. If the Post Office knows what it's doing, it will keep increasing those regulations as it increases prices for its own stamps so that it's never worth switching to the other carriers, even when the USPS prices are unbelievably high.

So like I said at the beginning, the only way to stop the rise in prices is to stop using them. If the government can't make as much money because it has fewer customers, it will either be forced to raise prices (which will end up losing them more customers, and eventually tanking the Postal Service) or lower them (which will hurt for a little while, until they start attracting customers again). Isn't it lovely how supply and demand apply, no matter how hard you try to squish them out of existence?

When the cost of delivering the mail stops increasing.

Look at gas prices alone, having gone in 20% or more since last fall. That right there raises the cost of operations. Not to mention general inflation and other business related expenses.

as quickly as people supply up paying for them. have you ever observed the different agencies generating postage stamps? i did no longer think of so. the place are the folk who bypass berserk at monopolies now? the government will save elevating expenditures on postage stamps till they might't in all probability make from now on money off of them, because of the fact they're on the fringe of a real monopoly: you are able to deliver letters with the aid of united statesor FedEx, besides the fact that if it expenses you out the yin-yang in case you do. maximum of that cost has no longer something to do with those agencies' expenses; this is taxes and regulations from the government. If the publish workplace is well-known with what this is doing, this is going to save increasing those regulations because it will boost expenditures for its very own stamps so as that this isn't rather worth switching to the different vendors, even while the USPS expenditures are unbelievably severe. So like I suggested on the commencing up, the only thank you to supply up the upward push in expenditures is to supply up utilising them. If the government can no longer make as lots money because of the fact it has fewer customers, this is going to the two be forced to boost expenditures (which will finally end up dropping them greater customers, and finally tanking the Postal provider) or decrease them (which will harm for a rapid time, till they initiate attracting customers lower back). isn't it attractive how supply and demand be conscious, no matter how puzzling you attempt to squish them out of life?

Never. We still have the cheapest postal service in the world. Would you deliver an envelope 3000 miles for $0.41? I thought not.
If you never want to pay more for postage, you could always buy some new "forever stamps"!

Not for a while. Email over the last 10 years has hurt the post office, so they have had to raise rates not only on firts class postage, but also for media mail, parcel post, etc.
When I was a kid it cost .10 cents to mail a letter. I think it will top out at around .80 cents or so.

When they achieve something close to what FedEx and UPS gets paid.

Or

I agree, the minute we stop buying stamps they will realize that too much is way too much.

It all started with the little hidden fees on our checking accounts and our utility bills. They know just like the rest of the Corporate world that they can force us to pay whatever they come up with and we will pay it because we have no choice.

We are all slaves to the masters wishes!

Inflation, they need to cover those high gas costs too!

At least now they're coming out with the "forever stamp" so you don't have to worry about those stupid 1 cent stamps when they increase it again... because they will increase it again!

They will never quit raising the price of them, simply because we keep buying them
