I am 37 weeks and the baby is already estimated weighing in at over 8 lbs! I am 5'2 and was 105 lbs before pregnancy. Can I ask to be induced early or is that even an option? I can't take anymore. I can't even take a breath in or eat, and the doctor acts as if I am just a complainer.

1 more week then you are full term. But keep in mind, ultrasounds can give or take 2 pounds for the baby. They estimated my first one to be almost 10 pounds at 37 weeks. She was only 7lbs 5 oz. at 38 weeks when I was induced.

The doctors warned me that I could have a 10 pound baby according to the measurements they were taking. My hubby was 10-3 when he was born and I was 9-14, so it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. My son was born on time and weighed 7-10. So you might want to take the weight with a grain of salt.

Most hospitals are shying away from voluntary inductions due to the rising costs of malpractice insurance and other factors. Many places won't consider induction unless there is a health risk or if the baby is at least a week overdue. Unfortunately, no one ever said pregnancy was comfortable. Try to remain relaxed and eat smaller, more frequent meals so you don't feel stuffed. Good luck!

Im being induced in two days. The doctor told me that a requirement for being induced early is you have to be 39 weeks. I dont know if all doctors are that way but mine told me that. Dont worry about the weight. Many a people say that the doc told them that they were having 7 or 8 pound babies and ended up with 5 or 6 pound babies. Good luck to you though!

I can imagine how uncomfortable you must be! I am in my 35th week and its rough. But hang in there, Mom! You are in the home stretch. Only a few weeks to go.

The average length of pregnancy for a first time mom is 41 weeks and one day, and you are almost there.

Keep in mind that weight estimates based on ultrasound are just guesses, and they can be wildly amiss. Many are several pounds off, so your baby might not be that big at all. Plus, your body likely will not produce a baby that is too big to birth. If it did your ancestors would have died out a long time ago.

Also, keep in mind that induction carries serious risks and causes much more painful contractions for you, risks "tiring" or hyperstimulating your uterus, and leads to a much higher rate of c-section. It also is much harder on your baby because it causes stronger contractions.

If you think you are uncomortable now, try caring for a newborn baby while trying to heal from MAJOR abdominal surgery (c-section). The healing time (and pain) from a c-section often last at least 6 weeks. Some people have scars or wounds that don't close right, too. Plus the wound can get infected.

And if your cervix is not effaced or "ripe" yet, the induction will likely fail and you will probably need a c-section. I think you should compare that option to just waiting for nature to take its course.

Just remember that they can be quite off in the weights of babies calculated by ultrasound. They told me my baby was going to be close to 10 pound and he was 8 pounds. The last few weeks are always uncomfortable, even for people lucky enough to have smaller babies!!! You only have a few more weeks!!! You're on the homestretch!!!

your Dr brushes your complaints off- because at around 37 weeks ALL PREGNANT women get horribly uncomfortable and complain no matter what size their baby is. It just plain hurts and gets uncomfortable. So dont take it personal but to your doctor you're just another cranky pregnant women complaining about the normal things that happen to women when they are pregnant.
Also- dont freak out about the weight. They can be soo off on their weight estimates. Didn't they inform you that on average they are off by 1lb? With my first pregnancy my daughter was estimated to be 10lbs at 42 weeks- had her and she was 7lbs!

Tell your doctor how uncomfortable you are, if he/she knows that the baby is going to be large they may consider it. You are technically full term. Have you started dilating yet? I am 5'1 and my last baby was almost 9 lbs, so I feel ya!! I was 39 weeks when my doctor took him though. By the way, my last ultrasound was right on with his weight.

I know you are miserable! Both of my girls weighed 10 pounds, and I'm 5'9"! I was in tragic pain, so I can't even imagine how you feel. I don't think you're a complainer, but I don't think they would induce your labor early. Walk a lot, if you can, maybe that'll help it happen sooner?

I'm not sure since you are 37 weeks. I think "full term" is 38 weeks. Maybe your doctor isn't wanting to do anything until at least that point.

You can always ask...not sure if it's a possible option...but you can always discuss with your doctor.

I have 3 kids they weighted at birth 8lbs, 10lbs 14oz, 10lbs 9oz. And yes i was not comfortable but my doctor was very nice but he would not take the baby early since the baby was not at risk. But he did get me plenty of time away from work because I was so tired.
