These two can be found in lakes, reservoirs and streams as they are entirely aquatic.

- mudpuppy
- western lesser siren

The next group can be found in a variety of habitats, woodlands, marshes, etc. As long as they can stay moist and avoid drying out. Usually hiding under logs and rocks and the some will dig themselves a burrow.

-four-toed salamander
-red-backed salamander
-marbled salamander
-blue-spotted salamander
-small-mouthed salamander
-spotted salamander
-eastern tiger salamander

The only species of newt found in Michigan couldn't be placed with the salamanders for habits! The young newts known as red efts are terrestrial and you can find them in the same type of habitat as salamanders. Whereas the adults are aquatic and can be found in streams, ponds, lakes, etc.

-eastern newt
