That's not really difficult. If everybody had Greenwich meantime (UT), anybody not living on that line of longitude would experience times not in sync with sunrise, midday and sunset.
I live in New Zealand. When it is noon at Greenwich, we are in the middle of night. Who wants that? Although we are extreme because we are halfway around the world from Greenwich, the whole of the USA would have their noon 5 to 9 hours offset from the middle of the daylight.
I think you have forgotten that the world revolves in 24 hours. Half the world is in various parts of night while half are in various parts of daylight.

There are different time zones so that people know what relative time it is somewhere else. Say I wanted to call Paris. I'd find out what time it is there. If it's 3am, I know it's probably not a good time to call whoever, because I'll wake them up.
It's easier than figuring out what time is "daytime" and what time is "nighttime" in different places, if we know that 3am is the middle of the night wherever you happen to be.
