The first thing I noticed was that my heaters were no longer pumping out hot air, only cold. Pressing the air conditioning button results in a louder than normal 'whirring' sound, even the button for the rear heated windows madkes a loud click. Also, a couple of lights on the centre console are out.

Are these just a number of trivial, isolated issues or could they be ponting to something more serious?

For the record it's a 2002 Astra SXi 5 door hatchback, 1.6i.

Thanks.

If the heater only blows cold air then check engine coolant level as may below, perhaps a small leak. this results ininsufficient coolant to circulate in the heater matrix (radiator inside of car).

don't sound to good buddy,i would say that there is a short in the dash electrics, maybe even an E.C.U. problem, most electrical components are moulded into plastic for support and sometimes the circuitry becomes over hot and can melt the plastic causing a circuit to short, and the electrical components are mass produced with basic cost materials,so i would say get it checked by dealer and i hope you have a fat wallet, good luck,
