I'm almost 37 weeks along with my 3rd baby. I never went into labor with my first two, had c-sections. So I have no clue what is going on. I've been having braxton hicks for quite awhile. Last night, I started getting sharp pains in my lower abdomen and right side of my back. Today, I have a constant ache in my lower back and my lower abdomen, with occasional, I guess shooting pains. I don't think I've lost my mucus plug, at least I haven't noticed if I have. I'm just concerned about the lower back and abdomen pain. It's so bad that I can't even bend over without it being excruciating. I've also felt really nauseous since yesterday and have had a few loose stools. Could this be early labor?

Thanks for the answers. However, I'm not feeling any of what I would call cramping. It's more of a constant pain that doesn't go away. So I just don't know what is going on. If I was in labor, wouldn't there be contractions or cramping or something that I could time when they begin and end?

If you are in pain (shooting pains) and having loose stools, call your doctor or go to the hospital. All of the other signs - braxton hicks for so long... and lower back pain all sound like labor to me.

Good luck!

i would say yes...i am on my 3rd as well and am 37 weeks tomorrow with the same exact symptoms as you.....i think the lower ab and back pain is the baby engaging and if you are starting to feel period cramps that come and go regularly then go to the hospital because it's real.....i haven't gotten those yet, but remember them with my other 2 kids. contractions don't really hurt until your water breaks...before hand they just feel like period cramps. let me know how it goes!!!!!

Yes it could be. Look for contractions that start to come at regular intervals. If you feel the need go in, no one will think you are wrong in doing so.
