I know the total amount of energy in the universe is constant, but why isn't the total amount of force constant. I know those with superior intellects will probably not understand this question, but my mind can not understand for the life of me the concept of force.

For one thing how can a stationary object exert a force?

Also:

if for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction, does this mean net force in the universe is always zero?

Thanks a lot to the altruistic physics minds that help a lesser mortal such as myself.

The articles I listed in the sources might help. Simply put, a force is anything that changes the velocity of an object; as Newton put it, F=MA. (Force equals Mass times Acceleration). It can also be considered as the derivative of momentum with respect to time.

A stationary object has the force of gravity acting on it, pushing it down; if it is not in free-fall, it has the normal force acting on it, pushing it up.

jludvig has a well reply. There quite is not one well mannequin that explains the entire myriad shapes of galaxies and the way they transfer. By the best way, darkish topic/power is now not a thought with out proof. In 2006 2 galaxies in collision precipitated the darkish topic round each to glow; so it was once now not darkish. Without darkish topic, swirling galaxies (like our Milky Way) might quickly fly aside below their possess centrifugal forces. With darkish topic, nevertheless, there may be adequate gravity pull from the middle of mass of the galaxies to offset that centrifugal drive. Swirling galaxies are like ferris wheels in that the celebrities out at the rim of the wheel transfer at quicker tangential velocities than stars close the middle. Thus, usually, stars close the threshold may have extra kinetic power than stars close the rotational middle of a rotating galaxy, it doesn't matter what it is form. The exception to this can be whilst a celebrity will get sucked right into a black gap on the middle of the galaxy. In which case, like a boat taking place in a whirlpool, the celebrity's speed will accelerate because it enters into the occasion horizon. This difference in velocity motives prime power photons to emit as signs that radio observatories have discovered. The angular momentum wanted at significant bang time to switch to the swirling galaxies is a thriller. Until not too long ago, the speculation of the BB posited a homogenous primordial combine increasing into the void. And that homogenuity disallowed offset forces which can be had to impart angular momentum. But not too long ago, greater measuring instruments have discovered that deep house isn't uniformly allotted. This shows that the primary seconds of the BB would possibly not were as homogeneous as they first suspected. If that be the case, then angular momentum might very good have sprung from that uneveness of the growth.
