I am a "techie", and from my experience maybe 40% of the time the problems I handle are due to various virus(es), spyware, etc. More than that, though, the service calls are due to user errors which delete drivers, etc, or inexperience with programs they're trying to run, or not having peripherals hooked up correctly, etc.

I don't work with computers exactly. But my friends come to me with computer assistance a lot. Most of the time it is a virus. Sometimes it is spyware, but about 90% is from viruses.

I don't work with computers either, but I do have many friends and family that bring their PC to me. Usually about 20% is due to Viruses, Spyware and such, the rest is just them not knowing how to use it or them changing certain configurations and not being able to access something or see certain things.

By calls you mean calls you make to tech support? That depends on your knowledge level and how well maintained your system is, what software you have installed.

I have only called tech support when my laptop keyboard broke and it needed to be replaced.
