I was staying at my sisters house babysitting my 2 year old nephew. I called her at work to tell her that my water broke. She rushed home, ran in the house, was talking so fast I couldn't understand a word she said. She ran to the room and grabbed my hospital bag, put my nephew in the car and drove off. WITHOUT ME!!! She did come back after a few blocks. WE STILL LOAO ON THIS ONE! : ) )

I was 40w3d when I lost my mucus plug at 10:30 on a tueday night. I lost more on Wed morning and up until about noon. I walked a mile around town and was having some sharp pains while walking but nothing major. I got back home and ate something and picked up the house a little bit. My contractions were coming about 5 minutes apart the whole time but they were completely bareable! About 5:30 I had a hard contraction and they were 4 minutes apart so I decided to go to the hospital. I got to the hospital at 6pm, moved from the exam room to the delivery room around 815-830 and my water broke and I got the epidural at the last minute and pushed for 45 minutes and my baby was born at 10:41pm!
When I was at the doctor for my 39 week appt, he stripped my membranes and told me I was about 2cm dialated and at my 40 week appt he said I was almost 3cm and my cervix was really ripe and we should wait and see what happens, so he stripped my membranes again and I went home and 2 days later my baby was here!
I am now a firm believer that walking gets your labor going good! I had a less than 7 hour labor and enjoyed every minute of it!

Sleeping when it started, with all 3 of them! 14 hours in irregular labor with the 1st one, 20 hours overall. 9 hours overall with the 2nd and 3rd. They had to break my water with #2 to get the contractions started again because they quit on the way to the hospital. My water broke with #3, but no contractions for a few hours. Then I went from 3 to 10 in about 15 min!!!

I started having irregular contractions very early on but they became more around 34 weeks. I was 80% effaced by then too. Two hours before labor started I was waiting on the front porch for my husband to get home from work. When he showed up, I said, "I want this baby out, so we're having sex..." lol and we did and I started having contractions (hard ones) about 20 minutes after sex. Then I went to the bathroom and couldn't walk back to the bedroom my contractions were so strong. My dog went into the bedroom and barked at my husband and he found me and asked if I was ok, and I told him that the sex worked, lets go the hospital. 7 hours later, we had our daughter =)

With my first baby, I was at the mall and used the bathroom and noticed that I lost my mucus, 2 weeks later, I was eating cereal for breakfast and my water broke. I was not having strong enough contractions, so my dr used Pitocin to help my labor. With my second baby, I was 4 cm dilated and begged my doctor to keep me!!! He told me to go walk and I did, he checked me again and I was 5 cm, so he kept me! My 3rd baby was induced at 39 weeks (the longest that I have gone!) My 4th baby was a csection because he was my biggest. I was also 39 weeks with him and my labor didn't start. He was almost 9 lbs though and I am only 5'1. Good luck with yours!

with my 1st I had just laid down to go to sleep around 2:30 a.m. and started having period like cramps and after awhile realized they were coming every 8 minutes. I had my baby girl 14 hours later. I think I lost MP like 3 days before that.

With my son I was induced so I didn't go into labor, but I wrote in the baby book that I lost my MP 18 days before he was born!!!! And I still hadn't gone into labor!

This time I'm 37 weeks 4 days and lost a little of my MP at the hospital 9 days ago.... and still nothing.

I think it just varies with every woman, & every pregnancy. For me loss of MP is NOT an indicator of labor anytime soon.

Good luck!

I lost my mucus plug twice. Once two weeks prior and one one week prior. Weird. I had started having contractions on Saturday afternoon, then they stopped around 3a.m. Sunday I decided I wasn't going to let them fizzle ot again, so I went for 3 one mile walks and mowed out front and back lawn. That did the trick, oh and a little sex! My son was born Monday morning!

I was in bed when strong contractions hit me but I was in labor for a week before I started to make any progress. The "we have to go to the hospital now" moment, I was in the shower.

I was out to dinner with my first. I had been having false labor for the previous 24 hours, so we went out to dinner and then they really started coming. First babies are usually slow, I was in labor a total of 48 hours before he finally come. My second was much, much quicker (3 hours).
