The patio room is connected to our house. The problem is, after a couple days or so, or warm temperatures, all of the snow falls like an avalanche off of the aluminum roof. the roof has a very light downward grade (slope). Not only is it loud (woke me up when it all came crashing down at 4AM) but it's dangerous for our pets and us who frequently use the back yard. It's kind of nice to have all of the snow off of your roof at once but it's scary. Any suggestions, thanks.

I have that with a outbuilding with a metal roof. I don't see that much can be done other than installing a bar or something to stop it from sliding off. The wire melting idea won't work here when it snows a foot or more overnight. All I do is stay away from the roof edge when it thaws. The pets are quicker and smarter than you think and I doubt they would get hit.

go to the hardware store and buy the wire kit they make for this problem. You put the wire on the roof, plug it in, and it melts the snow as it falls and keeps it from building up.

i would suggest getting the snow off yourself with a roof ake you can get at a hardware store or get a ladder and climb up to the roof and shovel it off. (make sure the pets are inside)
