While Edward Cullen is a fascinating character, I am finding it difficult to understand why he's attracted to Bella, who lacks confidence, is clumsy and suffers from a low self-esteem (thinks she isn't attractive.)

What is it about her that attracts him?

She first comes to his attention because of the blood thing. Her blood draws him in a way that no other persons can or will. Then there is the fact that he can read everyone elses mind, but Bella's. She fascinates him because he doesn't know what she is thinking and she is unpredictable.

Once Bella had his attention because of those things, Edward started to be attracted to her for herself, her sense of humor, her complete disregard for danger (it annoys and frustrates him, but I think he is also intrigued by it), the way he has to protect her when he has been a predator for so long. She reminds him of what it was like to be human.

Also, although Bella sees herself as unattractive, considering how all the guys at the school became instantly enamored of her, I think her feelings about herself might have been a bit off base.

In Twilight, we find out that Edward can read the minds of other people. If you could read people's thoughts, you might be surprised at some of the things they think. But Edward can't hear Bella's thoughts. That's what makes him so drawn to her, he doesn't know what she is thinking every second of the day.

u know what? that is a good question. i can't think of any reasons as to why he would be attracted to her other than we don't get to pick the people we fall in love with. i mean throughout both books he keeps trying to distance himself from her because he's convinced that he's going to hurt her. so i don't think he intended to like her. but it's been a while since i've read the book, so i don't know how accurate this guess is. lol. u've really given something to think about.

I believe her weaknesses attract him. Shes usually queit, shes new to the town, and as the book says she was basically destined for him. I guess it just love. Personally i think he should have fallen in love with me. lol. I♥Edward!!!
